Unidos en Cristo (United in Christ)

Unfortunately, we've been unable to update the blog until now due to extreme exhaustion, Jarrocho coffee, and the lack of a computer. We thought that we dug to China as we unearthed the famous "red rock". In fact this was one of many rocks that got "birthed" on the mountain.

The church looks fab in its new paint job. Three coats of "peach" color made the sanctuary "muy bueno" although Martha will go to the mat that it's salmon color.

This year as a great example of the togetherness that we felt with our Mexican brothers and sisters, we enjoyed a spectacular, delicious, and traditional Mexican meal. They went all out with streamers, confetti, music, lovely dresses, and their independence day meal (Chiles En Nogada, Orchata, Sandia, Gelatina "Mosaico" and frijoles). Believe it or not, we actually were able to dig out a few more rocks and move a few more buckets on our bulging stomachs. Our "hermanas" even prepared special gift baskets for us and sewed covers for our Bibles. Wow!

Now, we prepare to return to sunny Houston (we hope sunny with no hurricanes). This is our final blog. Over and out!

Necessito mas agua en la cochina (que?)

Here is a picture of Mark with the ladies of the church that were cooking our delicious lunch.

The guys are plastering the front of the church

Today, it seems as though we dug halfway to China (but there is still mountain left). Some of it made it back to the hotel (in our socks and pants). There was even some difficulty getting clean in the shower, but we'll omit pictures of that part. We did however take some pictures of our progress.

We're Here in Mexico

Hola from Mexico. After a few technical difficulties, we're on line (thank you Sam). We attended Getsemeni Church yesterday with a warm welcome. They had a very special service because yesterday was the 14th anniversary of Getsesmeni Church. They served us Pozole (google it) and in the afternoon Victor and Leonor (members of the church) took us on a special excursion on Xochimilco canal boats.

Today, work began. We arrived at the Church at 9:00 AM, and after a devotional we started our tasks. Believe it or not, our task is to literally move a mountain. We are digging out a shelf in from the mountain (on which the church is located). Unfortunately, the mountain is largely rocks which need to be broken up by hand. Some are very large, and one almost decided to reside in the Sanctuary. We will probably be digging for several days.
Well, that's about it for tonight. Hopefully more tomorrow.

Hope Team signing out.
